Revitalization

The Clatskanie Revitalization Project

The Clatskanie Revitalization Project is a community-driven effort to enhance downtown Clatskanie and key city areas. Our goal is to bolster local commerce, draw visitors from the highway, create inviting public spaces for everyone to enjoy, improve accessibility and safety, and highlight the picturesque small-town charm that makes Clatskanie so special.

The Revitalization Committee of the Chamber oversees this work. Board members, business owners, community leaders, and volunteers are part of the committee.

Current Projects

Summer 2026
Clatskanie Mural Festival

Thanks to grants from the Oregon Cultural Trust,  the Roundhouse Foundation, and the Columbia County Cultural Coalition, the Portland Street Art Alliance and their team of muralists will help bring FIVE new murals to the town of Clatskanie in Summer 2026, in partnership wth the Clatskanie Chamber of Commerce. Each mural will reflect Clatskanie’s unique story — highlighting themes like railroad history, farming, fishing, local plants and wildlife, timber, mushroom hunting, and more.

To celebrate, the Clatskanie Chamber of Commerce, Portland Street Art Alliance, and the Clatskanie Farmer’s Market are hosting a Mural Festival Saturday June 20th, 2026 in Cope's Park. We encourage you to join us at this event to learn more about the Chamber's revitalization efforts, take a tour of the murals + meet the artists, and enjoy fun art-themed activities like rock painting, flower arranging, paint & sip, face painting, and more.

Completed Projects

New Planter Boxes Spring 2025

With the support of Travel Oregon's grant, we were able to replace the Clatskanie Chamber's old planter boxes with new planter boxes made by Three Daughters' Saunas. The wooden design was chosen to capture and reflect Clatskanie's rich logging heritage.

Thank you Trass Family for volunteering to fill and set these planter boxes out.

New Downtown Bridge Ramps Spring 2025

With the support of Travel Oregon's grant, we were able to add and restore ADA friendly ramps to the downtown park bridge, near Cope's Park.

Community Clean Up April 2025

In April 2025 we hosted a volunteer clean up day focused on cleaning up the downtown Clatskanie. Weeds were pulled, sidewalks were swept, and debris was removed.

Thank you to the volunteers and businesses who made this clean up possible: The Clatskanie Leadership Class, Big Guy, and Flowers N Fluff.

City Park Paving Summer 2024

We’re incredibly grateful for the City of Clatskanie’s partnership on this exciting improvement project. Utilizing $24,000 of the Travel Oregon Grant, we were able to pave a critical part of the city park road and restroom. The City went above and beyond—extending the paving around the pool, adding fresh paint, and installing new ramps on the backside of the bridge near the restrooms.

THANK YOU City Manager Greg Hinkleman, Mayor Bob, the council, the Parks & Rec committee, Dave Minor, and the City public works crew for your investment and partnership. Additionally, thank you Mike George Paving for the beautiful work done!

Community Feedback Sessions Spring 2024

We hosted 2 community workshops to gather community feedback for projects residents would like to see for downtown. We had over 60 people attend the first meeting, and 50 attend the extended workshop meeting. Community based feedback is our guide for future projects.

City Wide Volunteer Clean Up Days - Spring 2024 & 2023

In Spring 2023 and 2024 we hosted a volunteer clean up day. Citizens across Clatskanie joined us to clean up areas in downtown and in the city parks.
